Painted Cornish Lizard and Falmouth Beach Scenes
Dollar Cove
Dollar Cove lies just northwest of Gunwalloe Church Cove roughly midway between Porthleven and Mullion on the west coast of the Lizard Peninsula. More correctly called Jangye Ryn, Dollar Cove is a southwest facing beach of sand.
The beach got its strange name from the fact local tales that a Portuguese treasure ship sank offshore in 1526 and in 1783 a ship carrying silver dollars was also wrecked nearby. Despite many amateur and even one professional search nothing significant has been found.
